Effective date: November 20, 2023
This Privacy Policy is meant to help you understand the following:
- Permissions our app requires on your device and why we need those permissions
- What data we collect from you and why
Required permissions on your device
Text λ app needs permission to read and write files on your device upon your request. All your data is saved in encrypted form -- the encryption key is derived from your passphrase.
If you choose biometric-login for authentication (like fingerprint-id, face-id), notebook passphrases are stored encrypted in keychain/keystore in your device. This mode of authentication needs to be explicitly enabled by you and requires access to biometric login features from your device. The default is always to ask you to enter your passphrase when opening a notebook.
Data we collect and why
- Your encrypted data
If you choose to sync notebook data to our servers, the encrypted data will be transmitted via a secure connection. The data is encrypted on your device and sent via a secure connection (SSL/TLS) to our servers. We will not be able to read the data as we do not have your encryption-key. But it is essential that you pick an unguessable passphrase to protect it. Please read Introduction to learn how data encryption works and how our software uses it.
- Your full name and email
These are obtained during login from OAuth providers you choose to use for login; like Google and Github. We request your full name and email from these OAuth providers, as we need them for identification, app personalization and for us to communicate with you. This information is always stored encrypted and will not be used for anything other than the aforementioned purposes.
- Session information
We store your IP address at login time, and may track and log requests you make to our servers. This is to ensure that our services are not misused and to allow us to investigate any suspicious activity effectively.
- Your published pages
These are meant to be public and are published at your request only. They are accessible to anyone on the internet. They are stored unencrypted and served on Text λ's website at https://textlambda.com.
How to delete your data
We provide you with the ability to delete specific encrypted notebook data and published pages via our app.
You can also choose to delete all data associated with your account. Please see delete account.
When this Privacy Policy applies
Our Privacy Policy applies to all of the services offered by Text λ.
Changes
Our Privacy Policy may change from time to time. We will not reduce your rights under this Privacy Policy without your explicit consent. We will post any privacy policy changes on this page.
